L'azzurro del cielo (2019)
A silent city, mysteriously devoid of inhabitants, is crossed by a man who has come from a faraway country. The anonymised architecture that composes the urban landscape guides the person into an inaccessible space, the city cemetery, which will make him reflect on his own identity. The project was born from the metaphysical suggestion of some architectural works by Aldo Rossi, in particular the modern extension of the San Cataldo Cemetery in Modena.
Palazzo Canavèe houses the workspaces for students and models built to present prototype versions of the structures they dream about. Between the Autumn and Spring semesters the building lies in a state of hibernation and is being prepared for the busy days to come. Models are being discarded while others accumulated on shelves in the studios. The continuous minature landscape replicates itself through the features of the containing building body that is dematerialized to the extent of confusion.
I Costruttori (2019)
A bucket of lime rises and falls from a building under construction, marking the working rhythms of a construction site.
The Kenyan capital city, Nairobi, is experiencing an important building development, several are the buildings under construction that will be transformed into offices, hotels and residences for the new Kenyan middle class. But who are the real protagonists of this urban development?
From the chaos of the city we move on to another dimension: the 'silence' of nature. Among caves, waterfalls and woods, the path rises higher and higher, towards the memory and the mountains. The sun sets and night looms. But the dawn of a new day appears on the horizon and the world in front of us lights up. Remotely, you can hear the echoes of the city, and a boy, on top of the mountain, listens to the wind, losing himself in the infinite. (Ivan Gnani)
////// Tangaza (2018)
